Alien - DepicT! Entry
Alien - DepicT! Entry
Me and a group of 2 others were asked to make a 90 second short film. There was no specific guidelines other than that so we decided to do it based on conformity. There were a lot of tasks to be completed before and during so we used the fact that there were 3 of us to our advantage and worked on more than one thing at a time to speed up the process.
I was asked to complete three things during the paperwork stage (in addition to the things we all had to do e.g minor release forms). The three things I chose to do were the storyboard, the budgeting sheet and the risk assessment. I felt confident doing these by myself and I think it shown in the end product. In addition to this I was the main actor during the filming stage, this obviously meant the other two in my group were in charge of camera equipment, mise en scene etc. so we all did chip in.

DepicT! research - Conformity Juice
Conformity Juice
This is quite a strange video; however due to it being strange and not having a clear meaning, it leaves the mind to wonder what is going on. I connoted that this was showing somebody breaking away from society and not following the 'rules' which everybody goes about in everyday society. It shows that people don't need to try and fit in.
It is based on quite flimsy drawings but this has a good effect. I think this video, as a cartoon is aimed towards younger children however any adults who choose to watch this would look at it from a different aspect and gain from it more than the children do.

A2042
At first I was slightly confused by this, however once the film went on I realised how clever the filmmaker actually was. At the start it just shown a close up shot of a man crying, looking slightly scared. Then as the camera tracked back, the audience started to get more in depth audio and we heard what appeared to be violence out on the street. Tracking back even further we then realised the guy was actually a policeman and was hiding from the violence (maybe escaping his job?)
Due to the intense connotations you could make from this film, I feel this is aimed to the maturer of people. Possibly older teenagers through to adults.
The film didn't even need speech because the meaning and purpose was quite clear without. The flashing lights and siren noises add the drama which the audience are eagerly waiting for after watching the tense start.
DepicT! research - Death in Space
Death in Space
I like this film due to the humorous side of it. It is a short compilation of mini clips showing the certain ways in which people could die in space. It is a cartoon so it could and probably would be aimed at young children, however due to the whole idea of space it could also be watched and enjoyed by adults.
There are a lot of interesting sound effects throughout the video and this makes the video a whole more satisfying to watch. In terms of visual effects there re a lot of interesting colours. I feel like this would definitely appeal to children for the use of colour, sound and setting. Children are more fascinated by new things and dying in space certainly isn't something they would see everyday.
